Brittle to ductile transition in silicate glasses using the phase-field model

The project aims to develop continuum scale constitutive relationships based on atomic scale results to model shear banding in indentation. LaMCoS offers a full-time postdoctoral position for a motivated researcher with a Ph.D. in material science, or engineering. The successful candidate will implement a ductile phase-filed model to study the length-scales where deformation localises in silicate glasses.

Shear band and damage formation in soda-lime and boro-silicate glasses in atomic-scale models

The project aims to understand the origin of shear bands in silicate glasses at the atomic scale. LaMCoS offers a full-time postdoctoral position for a motivated researcher with a Ph.D. in material science, physics, or engineering. The successful candidate will develop molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the source of the shear localization penomena.

Acoustic emission source model development with the phase-field method

The project aims to understand the source of the acoustic waves emitted by fatigue crack propagation in metals and polymers. LaMCoS offers a full-time postdoctoral position for a motivated researcher with a Ph.D. in material science or engineering. The successful candidate will develop a new acoustic source model with the phase-field method in a finite element framework.
